Chapter Five: Dance the Night Away
Abrielle was still sitting at the table when Jenesis came
downstairs.
“Hey, I heard the door. He went home early?” She sat down in
Jadrien’s empty chair, looked from the plate of spaghetti to Abrielle, and back
to the spaghetti. When Abrielle nodded Jenesis picked up the fork and began to
eat.
“No, I asked him to leave.”
Jenesis looked up from her food and gave Abrielle a
quizzical look. “How come?” she muttered through a mouthful of spaghetti.
Abrielle laughed at her lack of manners and simply said, “He
was much more interested in you than me.”
Jenesis inhaled and started coughing and choking on her
pasta. She made a big deal about pounding her chest and slamming her fist on
the table.
“Um, Jen? Are you ok? Do I need to give you the Heimlich?”
Abrielle started to get up but Jenesis just waved a hand and shook her head.
Finally she took a deep breath and said, “Don’t worry about
that, happens all the time.”
She smiled at Abrielle and added, “Especially when my best
friend just tells me she broke up with her boyfriend because he was into me.”
Abrielle smiled widely at the fact that Jenesis had just
called her a best friend. “Yeah, he even asked me for your number as he was on
his way out the door.”
“Holy hell, could he be anymore arrogant?!” Jenesis shook
her head and looked sympathetically at Abrielle. “I’m sorry things didn’t work
out for you tonight, A. Feel like going out?”
“Uh, where to exactly? Sunset Valley isn’t really known for
awesome places to hang out.”
“Bridgeport! We can go to any club you want! It’ll be great!”
Jenesis explained standing up. She then started clapping her hands excitedly.
“Oh I don’t know…”
Jenesis grabbed Abrielle’s hand and pulled her to her feet.
“Come on! Up the stairs! You can get ready in my room.”
Abrielle laughed. “Anyone ever tell you you’re a spaz?”
“Oh multiple times honey, but you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”
Shaking her head, Abrielle complied and made her way to
Jenesis’s room. Once upstairs her roommate started throwing multiple dresses at
her, having her try each and every one on until they found the perfect look. After five dresses Abrielle was getting a bit impatient.
“Jenesis, it’s been real fun playing dress up but I think I’m just –” Jenesis put her hand over Abrielle’s mouth and held up a black dress with gold and lace accents.
“I have found the perfect one.” Jenesis whispered acting
very serious. “Take. Put on. Be amazed.” She placed the dress in Abrielle’s
arms and sat down on her bed.
“You seriously are crazy, woman.”
“’Tis a fact. Now put that thing on! We still need to do
your hair!”
Abrielle rolled her eyes and slipped into the black dress.
She looked to Jenesis and saw that she was jumping up and
down on the bed doing her signature hand clapping.
“Looks that good, huh?” Abrielle laughed. She really did
enjoy having Jenesis around; the girl always seemed to put her in a good mood.
“It looks ah-mazing on you! Alrighty, now, onto the hair.”
------
By the time they made it to the club it was already one in
the morning. Abrielle tried talking Jenesis out of it one more time as they
walked towards the doors, but Jenesis just took her hand and pulled her toward
the elevator.
“Come on A, have a little faith in me! We’re going to have a
great night!”
And she wasn’t lying either. The club was definitely the
place to be in Bridgeport that night. There were tons of people, and as Jenesis
said plenty of “fine” men.
The girls drank and danced the night away.
It was the best Abrielle had felt in ages. She let her
worries slip away with every sip of her Sapphire Samurai.
