Chapter Fifteen: Forever Kind of Love
“You look absolutely GORGEOUS
Abrielle Ainsley, soon to be Gray!” Jenesis looked her friend up and down and couldn't help but smile.
Today was Kyler and Abrielle’s wedding day.
“Really? I feel sort of bloated…” Abrielle looked down at
her growing belly.
“Uh, what do you expect? You’re pregnant woman! But you look
still look beautiful!” Jenesis pulled her friend towards the bathroom. “Come
on, we need to finish your makeup! I bet Kyler is getting anxious down there!”
Abrielle smiled and followed Jenesis to her bathroom.
Butterflies filled her belly as she thought about what awaited her downstairs.
------
Kyler, his father, and Eric were all gathered around in the
living room waiting for the signal that Abrielle was ready to go.
“So how are you feeling bud? Getting’ excited to be a
married man?” Eric asked.
“Yeah, definitely feeling something. Excitement?
Nervousness? Nausea? Who knows, it could be any of those.”
Eric clapped Kyler on the shoulder and chuckled. “Aw man,
you’re going to be fine. Just think about Abrielle.”
At the mention of her name Kyler began to relax. He pictured
her beautiful face and tried to imagine what she would look like when she
finally met him under the wedding arch in their backyard. He couldn’t wait.
The feelings inside of him had turned into nothing but excitement.
“Kyler, you know, I don’t know if I’ve gotten to tell you
this much,” Kyler’s dad stepped up next to his son and continued, “but I am so
proud to call you my son. Your mother and I are so happy that you have finally
found the person who will always make you happy. Honestly, I always thought it
would be Abri. Don’t know what you were thinking with May-”
“Harold!” Kyler’s mother walked into the living room and
interrupted her husband. “There is no need to mention that today. Today is
about Abrielle and Kyler. Nothing else.”
“Ah, Marie, I didn’t mean any harm. I was just tryin’ to let
him know I think he’s making a fine decision marrying Abri and all.”
Kyler’s mother rolled her eyes and then smiled at all three
of the men. “Boys, time to get into your positions. The Bride is ready!” She
clapped her hands and ushered everyone outside.
------
Abrielle stood in the kitchen in front of the door leading
outside. Jenesis had just left and now Abrielle was taking a few last moments
for herself.
She smiled. This was the most calm she had felt in a long
time. She knew that even if things went wrong today there would be no mistakes.
She was finally where she was meant to be. With Kyler. Forever. She took a deep
breath and turned the door knob.
------
Kyler saw her the second she rounded the corner of the
house. His heart stopped. Wow he
thought. The smile spread across his face as his heart began to pick up pace.
Abrielle seemed to be moving in slow motion towards him. He wanted to run up to
her pick her up and seal their marriage with a kiss. But he stood there and
patiently waited for his beautiful bride to reach his side.
------
Abrielle could hear Jenesis sniffle behind her as Kyler
recited his vows.
“Abrielle, I stand before you today to declare my love for
you and invite you to share my life. You are the most beautiful, smart, and
generous person I have ever known, and I promise always to respect you and love
you. With kindness, unselfishness and trust, I will work by your side to create
a wonderful life together. From the moment I first saw you, I knew you were the
one with whom I wanted to share my life. Your beauty, heart, and mind inspire
me to be the best person I can be. I promise to love you for eternity,
respecting you, honoring you, being faithful to you, and sharing my life with
you. Forever.”
After Kyler placed the ring on Abrielle’s finger she took a
breath and then took her turn saying her vows.
“Kyler, today I take you to be my husband. Together we will
create a home, becoming a part of one another. I vow to help create a life that
we can cherish, inspiring your love for me and mine for you. I vow to be
honest, caring and truthful, to love you as you are and not as I want you to
be, and to grow old by your side as your love and best friend. Because of you,
I laugh, I smile, and I dare to dream again. I look forward with great joy to
spending the rest of my life with you, caring for you, nurturing you, being
there for you in all life has for us. I love you. Forever.”
This time it was Abrielle’s turn to cry. She guided the ring
onto Kyler’s finger and then looked up into his glistening eyes. She smiled as
tears of joy slowly began their journey down her cheeks.
Kyler took Abrielle’s face in his hands and wiped away a
tear with his thumb. Then he slowly pulled her towards him and the couple took
their first kiss as husband and wife.
“WOOOO!” Jenesis yelled and started doing her signature
bouncy clap.
Abrielle and Kyler laughed but did not break their kiss.
Kyler’s mom and dad stood up from their bench smiled at
their son and daughter-in-law and began clapping.
“Alright, now let’s eat some cake!” Eric grinned and glanced
over at the three tier wedding cake.
“Oh my goodness, Eric. Did you seriously just say that!?”
Jenesis walked over to her fiancé and punched him in the shoulder.
Kyler and Abrielle finally broke their kiss and stared at
their friends then looked back at each other and broke out laughing.
“We seriously have the best friends ever!” Abrielle said in
bursts of laughter.
Kyler just laughed and shook his head. “Well, shall we cut
this cake?”
The newlywed couple walked over to their cake as their loved
ones filed in behind them. (Clearly Jenesis was just as excited about this cake
as Eric was!)
With love and joy they cut the cake and shared that, along
with jokes, laughter, stories, and love with four of the most cherished people
in their lives.
------
Kyler and Abrielle may have been through so much together
already but today was just the beginning. The start of forever.
